Abstract:
A mandrel bar cleaning facility in which carburizing occurring on the inner surface
of a pipe during elongation can be suppressed without causing any trouble to operation.
The mandrel bar cleaning facility (15) cleans a mandrel bar (B) drawn out from
a mandrel bar carrying line after it is used for elongating a pipe in a mandrel mill
(8). The mandrel bar cleaning facility (15) is characterized by comprising
carriers (17, 18) for carrying the mandrel bar (B) in the axial direction while
rotating it in the circumferential direction, and a cleaning devices (1d) oppositely
disposed on the side of the mandrel bar (B) carried by the carriers (17, 18), for
jetting high pressure water having a water pressure of 0.2-150 Mpa (preferably,
20-150 Mpa) toward the outer surface of the mandrel bar (B).
