Description:
MANHOLE

The subject of the invention is the maintenance opening cover connection in the insulation lagging of a ventilation or air conditioning system unit, wherein at least one of components, the cover or lagging, is made of flexible plastic.

In ventilation and air conditioning systems there are units whose operation requires thermal and acoustic separation from the environment. The covers, usually made of foamed plastic, should provide easy access to the interior space through removable lids in the lagging walls, enabling operation and maintenance. The solution for the connection of the cover with the lagging wall should ensure ease of opening and closing and tightness of the detachable connection. For example, in the Korean description of the KR101294247 invention, there is an insulating lagging of a fan station made of foamed plastic, in whose walls the circular openings of the connections for lines currently not used are closed with bayonet-pressed covers, and the maintenance openings, of any shape, are covered with covers with a circumferential seal, and fixed with a press fit in the flexibly deformable lagging walls. Similar solutions are used in the air distribution box described in European patent EP1959208. Round covers with bayonet closing have a diameter-long handle on their front face for easy turning of the cover and press-fitted covers (Fig. 10-12) have a thrust flange and interlocking labyrinth-groove shape. In yet another air distribution box, as described in the PL/EP2965017 description, the rectangular connection openings in the lagging walls are closed by means of foamed plastic covers, as a result of flexible press fitting of the flange and the peripheral shoulder into the mirror image profile of the lagging wall.

The purpose of this invention is to develop a connection for the cover of the maintenance opening in the wall of the insulation lagging, providing a rigid and tight contoured detachable connection using the elasticity of the material and, at the same time, a design that allows easy assembly and disassembly.

The connection, according to the invention, has features similar to those found in the known solutions described above: a tightly mounted flange abutting an internal shoulder in the opening of the lagging wall. It is distinguished by the fact that there is at least one wave-shaped bulge at the side of the flange, the height of which is such that it allows the cover to be pressed into the opening in the lagging wall, without damage, within the range of flexible deformation of the material. Axially behind the flange, there is an inner ring which is press-fitted in the internal shoulder of the opening. In the corner of the front face of the flange, a groove is made in which the O-type sealing cord is embedded.

It is preferable to make an embodiment in which, while maintaining the similarity of the shape of the cover and the socket in the lagging wall, the dimensions of the bulge are differentiated so that, in combination, they constitute a loose fit with a gap on the front surface of the bulge and the front surface of the flange, and a press fit on the rear surface of the bulge, within the range of elastic deformation of the material.

It is also preferable, if the cover on a part of its circumference has a handle covered by a recess in the wall of the lagging, with dimensions allowing access by the operator's hand to the rear surface of the handle, with the interruption by the handle of the circumferential profile of the connection being such a part of the circumference that the rigidity of the material allows adequate pressure to be maintained on the sealing O-cord.

It is preferable to use a connection in which a flexible groove is made from the frontal external surface of the cover, running parallel and in distance to the contour of the flange, and where the space of this groove is filled with insulating material of a hardness lower than that of the cover material.

It is also preferable if the external surface of the housing has a relaxing groove, running parallel to and away from the contour of the shoulder and where the space of this groove is filled with an insulation material of a hardness lower than that of the cover material.

The wave-shaped geometry of the circumferential bulge when the cover is pressed together with the opening in the lagging wall generates compressive stress, which causes frictional forces that make the connection rigid with a permanent pressure on the sealing cord.

The connection according to the invention is shown in the drawings, where Fig. 1 shows its vertical cross-section, Fig. 2 - the front view, Fig. 3 - an enlarged view of the upper part of Fig.l, with the areas of fits marked, and Fig. 4 shows the view of the connection cover from the "W" direction marked in Fig. 2. Cover 1, with the outline of a vertically elongated rectangle with rounded corners required in this embodiment, is made of foamed polypropylene with a closed cell structure. Cover 1 in the form of a plate with a circumferential flange 1.1 has on its external surface a circumferentially closed bulge ring 1.2 protruding in a wave of height h. Axially behind the flange 1.1 there is an inner ring 1.3, which press-fitted in the inner shoulder 2.2 of the opening 2.1 in the wall 2 of the lagging. Cover 1 is tightly fitted with the push-fit flange 1.1 in the opening 2.1 of the wall 2 until it rests against the internal shoulder 2.2. In the corner of the front face of the flange 1.1, a groove 1.4 is made in which the O-type sealing cord 3 is embedded. In the lower zone, cover 1 has a handle 1.5 covered by a recess 2.3 in wall 2 of the lagging, with dimensions to allow access by the operator's hand to the rear surface of handle 1.5. On the frontal surface of the outer cover 1 there is a relaxing groove 1.6, running in parallel and at a distance to the contour of the flange 1.1, which is circumferentially open over the handle 1.5. The space of the 1.6 relaxing groove is filled with a flexible insulation material to reduce heat escaping through the thermal bridge of the reduced thickness of the cover. The tightness of the connection is aided by the flexible pressure of the axial sealing ring 3 against the shoulder surface 2.2 of the opening 2.1. The pressure is obtained as a result of differentiation of bulge dimensions 1.2 on the flange 1.1 of cover 1 and in the wall socket 2 of the lagging - while maintaining similarity of shape. The combination of tolerances defines the loose fit with the gap (y, z) on parts of the front surface of bulge 2.5 and on the front surface of the flange 2.4, and a press fit (w) on the rear surface of the bulge 2.6. The dimensional tolerances are within the flexible deformation range of the material used.
