Abstract:
In a manufacturing method of a die for molding a ceramic honeycomb structure having
latticelike molding grooves, and body supply holes communicating with the molding
grooves, the step of machining the latticelike molding grooves consists of a
first machining step for forming a plurality of first parallel molding grooves,
and a second machining step for forming second molding grooves intersecting
the first molding grooves following the first machining step. The method is
characterized in that the first and second machining steps are carried out in
at least two passes by performing grinding or cutting using a rotary tool, and
the second pass of the second machining step and subsequent steps are performed
by up-cut. A production method of a ceramic honeycomb structure employing that
die is also provided.
