Abstract:
The manuscript reading device (20) is provided with: a manuscript reading part (5) for optically reading images of manuscripts; a character string recognition part (102) for recognizing a character string included in a specified area in the manuscript images read by the manuscript reading part (5); and an image storage control part (103) for saving the manuscript images read by the manuscript reading part 5 in a storage device. If a character string recognized by the character string recognition part (102) in a manuscript image of the preceding page of a manuscript differs from the character string recognized by the character string recognition part (102) in a manuscript image of the current page, the image storage control part (103) saves to the storage device (92) the manuscript images of pages up to the preceding page as a single file.
