Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a technique that makes it easy to understand the positional relationship between a destination and a route.
[Solution] This map display system is provided with: a destination acquiring unit which acquires a destination designated on a map displayed on a display unit; a position acquiring unit which acquires a start position, which is the position of the map when the destination was designated, and an end position, which is a position of the map that makes it possible for an entire planned movement route connecting a departure point to the destination to be displayed; and a display control unit which controls the display unit such that the position of the map being displayed on the display unit gradually moves from the start position to the end position, acquires a start scale, which is the scale of the map when the destination was designated, and an end scale, which is the scale of the map that makes it possible for the entire planned movement route to be displayed, and gradually changes the scale of the map being displayed on the display unit from the start scale to the end scale during a movement period in which the position of the map being displayed on the display unit moves gradually from the start position to the end position.
