Abstract:
A map generation device (13) comprises a feature position information evaluation unit (222) that determines an evaluation value for each of a plurality of evaluation items serving as indicators for evaluating the reliability of position information of a feature. The plurality of evaluation items includes any of: an error amount when the arrangement of configuration points of a feature is approximated by a function; the parallelism between the direction of the arrangement of feature configuration points and a movement trajectory of a measurement vehicle; a distance between a position indicated by feature position information and the position of the measurement vehicle when the feature position was measured; the absolute value of the reflection strength of the feature position obtained from the measurement information or a difference in reflection strength between a feature position and the surrounding area; a difference in height between a feature position indicated by measurement information and the surrounding area or a height change gradient of a border portion of a feature and the surrounding area; a surface orientation obtained by plane approximation of feature configuration points distributed in a planar shape; and a correspondence relation between the height from the road surface of a position indicated by feature position information and the size of a surface created by the feature configuration points.
