A map information processing device enabling normal map display and route guidance. When a road corresponding to a user's current position detected by position detection means (15) is not present in a map information storage section (16a), the road is defined as a new road. A new road detection section (19) creates new road travel history information representing a history of travel on the new road. A new road creation section (20) creates new road information based on the new road travel history information. A new road information storage section (16b) stores the new road information. A new road edit section (23) edits the new road information acquired from the new road information storage section (16b). A road information update section (21) adds the new road information edited by the new road editing section (23) to the map information storage section (16a).
