Abstract:
In the present invention, a vicinity information acquisition unit (11) determines whether another vehicle has traveled on a different road from the host vehicle on the basis of information indicating the roads and facilities in the vicinity of the host vehicle and the travel state of the other vehicle. A difference checking unit (13) checks whether a road of interest that the vicinity information acquisition unit (11) has determined that the other vehicle has traveled on is in the host vehicle map information in a host vehicle information storage unit (12). A wireless communication unit (14) inquires as to whether an unknown road of interest that has been determined by the difference checking unit (13) to not be in the host vehicle map information is in master map information on a server device (20). Additionally, if the unknown road of interest is in the master map information, the wireless communication unit (14) receives, from the server device (20), map information for updating that includes the unknown road of interest. A map updating unit (15) updates the host vehicle map information using the map information for updating received by the wireless communication unit (14).
