Provided are a marine transportation method using a barge, and a marine transportation barge to be used for this marine transportation method, said marine transportation method having a large degree of freedom regarding the length, the width, and the height of a large heavy load, and being capable of conveying said large heavy load in such a way as to completely prevent the same from coming into contact with sea water. A seawall (6) which has a U-shape, as seen in a plan view, and is large enough to contain the large heavy load to be brought in, is formed on a deck (3) of a barge body (2) by means of a plurality of containers (4, 5). In the next place, the large heavy load is brought inside the seawall (6). Subsequently, an opening (X) of the seawall (6) is closed by means of a pair of opening/closing sections (7, 7) which are formed on the left and right sides by empty containers. Thereafter, the upper opening of the seawall (6) is covered with a seawater-proof tent. Afterwards, the barge (1) is towed to a destination.
