Abstract:
Prior to execution of an analysis, a user sets inputs such as the mass of ions to be observed or the resolution of the mass according to a purpose, from an operation unit (9). An analytical condition operating unit (71) of a control unit (7) determines such a circulating number that the mass resolution to the observation object ions may satisfy the set mass resolution, and calculates the timing, at which the ions on a circulating orbit (P) are to be released, from that circulating number, thereby to set the timing to an analytical condition. If other observation object ions emanate at that timing, the circulating number is changed, and a release timing is recalculated. If necessary, a plurality of measurements are performed with divided masses, to determine the analytical conditions for the individual measurements. If the analytical conditions for achieving the desired mass resolution are found out for the individual observation object ions, the control unit (7) controls the individual units in accordance with the analytical conditions stored in an analytical condition storage unit (72), thereby to execute the mass analyses of the observation object ions. As a result, the user is not required for performing the troublesome calculations of the circulating number so that the convenience and the operability can be improved.
