Title:
MASS SPECTROMETER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/054013
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a mass spectrometer that uses a multi-stage differential exhaust system, wherein the DC voltages applied to a plurality of ion optical elements for ion transfer can be appropriately optimized. An auto tuning control unit (32) acquires intensity data for ions originating from a prescribed component while changing the DC voltages applied to ion guides (12, 14), and the like, and searches for intensity-maximizing DC voltages. During the automatic adjustment, when the DC voltage applied to one ion optical element is changed, the DC voltages applied to all of the subsequent ion optical elements are also changed by the same amount. Thus, because the DC voltage differences between adjacent two ion optical elements only ever change at one location, the DC potential differences can be determined so as to obtain the best ion passage efficiency, and the final DC voltages of each ion optical element can be set so as to achieve a state in which ions pass properly. As a result, it is possible to obtain high detection sensitivity and mitigate mass resolution reduction resulting from the adjustment of DC voltages applied to ion optical elements to be adjusted.
