Abstract:
This mass spectrometry device is equipped with an ionization chamber (321) for bringing into contact a sample gas introduced from a sample inlet (210) and a thermoelectron generated by a filament (322) and introduced from an electron inlet (321a) in order to ionize the sample gas. The mass spectrometry device comprises state switching means (325 and 400) for switching between a first state in which the filament electric potential is lower than the ionization chamber electric potential, and a second state in which the filament electric potential is equal to or higher than the ionization chamber electric potential. Then, the sample is analyzed while alternating repeatedly between the first state and the second state, a mass spectrum is generated from the signals obtained in the first state, and noise components, such as from He* that is generated in the first state, are exhausted to the exterior of a vacuum chamber (310) during the second state. In this manner, a mass spectrum can be obtained, which is devoid of influence from a background caused by a carrier gas such as He.
