Abstract:
This mass spectrometry device (100) is provided with: an ionization part (10) including an ionization chamber (1) and an ionization probe (12) for spraying a liquid specimen thereinto; a mass separation part (43) for separating ions in accordance with a mass-to-charge ratio thereof; an ion transport part (2, 22) disposed between the ionization chamber and the mass separation part and transporting ions derived from components contained in a droplet of the specimen to the mass separation part; an ion introduction part (5) disposed in a partition wall between the ionization chamber and the ion transport part; deflection electrodes (15, 16) disposed inside the ionization chamber; voltage application parts (62, 63) for applying, to the deflection electrodes, voltages for forming an electric field for causing a change in the traveling direction of ions in the spray stream from the ionization probe; and a voltage control part (60) for switching the voltages to be applied by the voltage application parts to the deflection electrodes such that the ions in the spray stream from the ionization probe travel toward the ion introduction part at least during a portion of a time period during which components to be measured are contained in the liquid specimen, but the ions in the spray stream do not travel toward the ion introduction part at least during a portion of a time period during which the components to be measured are not contained in the liquid specimen.
