Abstract:
In a conventional device, a positive ion and a negative ion need to be separately introduced into an ion trap and need to be separately inspected. A mass spectroscope is constituted by: an ion source for generating both a positive ion and a negative ion from a sample; a single ion trap for introducing a positive ion and a negative ion from the same entrance substantially at the same time and trapping the positive ion and the negative ion; and a detector for detecting both the positive ion and the negative ion discharged concurrently and selectively by mass from the ion trap.
