Abstract:
Provided are: a massage device capable of imparting comfortable kneading and massaging sensations and preventing wear on covers covering treatment elements; and a massage chair provided with the massage device. This massage device comprises: a pair of left and right massage members (10, 11) provided with the treatment elements (91-94); and a massage mechanism (12) which actuates at least one of the massage members (10, 11) so that the treatment elements (91-94) move close to and away from each other in the left/right direction so as to cause a kneading action. The massage members (10, 11) are each provided with an arm member (15, 16) extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction in which the treatment elements move close to and away from each other. The treatment elements (91-94) are attached to the ends of the arm members (15, 16) so as to be rotatable around the axes of extended lines (L) extending along the direction in which the arm members (15, 16) extend, and also rotatable around axes in a direction substantially perpendicular to the extended lines (L).
