The purpose of the present invention is to provide a material composition for a bulk heterojunction-type organic photoelectric conversion layer, an organic photoelectric conversion element, a method for producing the same, and a solar cell that with a short drying time forms a stable, phase-separated structure, has high photoelectric conversion efficiency and durability, and has high productivity. This material composition for an organic photoelectric conversion layer is characterized in that a solvent represented by formula (1) is used in a material composition for an organic photoelectric conversion element comprising at least a p-type conjugate polymer semiconductor material that is a copolymer having electron donating groups and electron withdrawing groups in the main chain, an electron-accepting n-type organic semiconductor material and a solvent.
