Title:
MEANS FOR DISCONNECTABLY COUPLING TOGETHER REINFORCING BARS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1980/001492
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Means for disconnectably coupling together reinforcing bars, especially convenient for separating a part of a reinforced concrete structure. This coupling means (10) include a metal cylinder (15) in which any one of reinforcing bars to be coupled together is inserted at its end and adjoined to the cylinder, a thermally-destroyable member (16) arranged between the cylinder and reinforcing bar (11) and composed of thermally-destroyable substance, and a heating element (17) for heating and thus destroying the thermally-destroyable member (16) when the element is supplied with the electric current. The reinforcing bar (11) may be adjoined to the cylinder (15) by means of an adhesive (21). When the coupling means of this invention is employed at the reinforcing bar-coupling portion where the reinforcing bars are coupled together between a bridge floor and a reinforcing member for an expansion joint provided on the bridge floor at the bridge connecting location, the reinforcing member is, if desired, easily disconnected from the bridge floor.
