Abstract:
A measuring apparatus and method for measuring multiphase mass flow rates of gas, oil, and water in wet gas. The measuring apparatus comprises: a differential pressure flowmeter (6) having a throat section (4); and a gamma ray detector comprising a gamma ray emitter (1) and a gamma ray receiver (3), wherein a gamma ray emitted by the gamma ray emitter (1) runs diametrically through the throat section (4) of the flowmeter into the gamma ray receiver (3). A radioactive source in the gamma ray emitter (1) is a multi-functional radioactive source that can naturally emit gamma rays of at least three energy magnitudes. No thermostat is disposed in the gamma ray receiver (3). The method comprises: using the measuring apparatus and the gamma ray detector to measure transmission intensities N x,1, N x,2, and N x,3 of three gamma rays; and using a related formula to calculate a total mass flow rate of wet gas and a mass flow phase rate of oil, gas, and water. The measuring apparatus of the present invention does not need a thermostat, does not need to indicate an empty pipe count, and is highly suited for underwater and downhole use.
