A measuring instrument, comprising a local volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (2), a remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (3), a remote communication component (4) and a central processing component (1), wherein the local volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (2), the remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (3) and the remote communication component (4) are connected to the central processing component (1); the measurement level of the remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (3) is higher than or equal to that of the local volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (2); the remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (3) provides a built-in high-level measurement standard or remote high-level measurement standard for the local volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (2), and remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability is carried out on the local volume value transmission/quantity value traceability component (2) by means of the built-in high-level measurement standard or remote high-level measurement standard. Volume value transmission/quantity value traceability can be carried out on the measuring instrument in a remote manner, so that the volume value transmission/quantity value traceability of the measuring instrument becomes very convenient and simple, and the costs are lower. Further provided is a remote volume value transmission/quantity value traceability method.
