Abstract:

[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mechanical seal configured so that a stationary sealing ring can follow the movement of a rotating sealing ring to provide reliable sealing properties, and the entire device can be made compact. [Solution] In this mechanical seal, a rotating sealing ring 13 mounted to a shaft 2 and a stationary sealing ring 21 mounted to a housing 3 slide relative to each other and seal between the housing 3 and the shaft 2. The mechanical seal is provided with a case 22 which is mounted to the housing 3 and which contains the stationary sealing ring 21, and a seal member 23 which is disposed between the case 22 and the stationary sealing ring 21. The case 22 is provided with a holding section 22d which prevents the seal member 23 from moving to both sides of the seal member 23 in the axial direction thereof.
