Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mechanical joint, a steel pipe with a joint, a method of manufacturing a steel pipe with a joint, a structure, a method of constructing a structure, and a method of designing a mechanical joint that improve workability by reducing the push load required for fitting, without increasing processing costs and without reducing strength. A mechanical joint 1 comprises: an inner joint pipe 5 and an outer joint pipe 7. Either one of the inner joint pipe 5 and the outer joint pipe 7 is divided at equal intervals in a circumferential direction and is configured from a radially flexible split piece 11. The joint comprises: a protrusion section 13 that is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the inner joint pipe 5; an engagement section 17 that is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the outer joint pipe 7 and that engages with the protrusion section 13; and an inclined surface section 19 that is provided to the outer joint pipe 7, further toward the distal side than the engagement section 17, and that abuts against the protrusion section 13 so as to flex the split piece 11 in cooperation with the protrusion section 13. The inclined surface section 19 is provided continuously from the end of the outer joint pipe 7 to the engagement section 17.
