Abstract:
A device and a method for controlling car parking in a mechanical parking lot suitable for mechanizing a car entry and/or exit device for the mechanical parking lot. In a mechanical car park comprising car entry and exit areas and lift means for transporting a car between the car entry and exit areas and a car storage area, there are provided automatic recognition means provided in the car entry area for confirming the condition of a car and presence of people in the car, and car storage controlling means for confirming based on outputs from the automatic recognition means that the car at the car entry area is in a suitable condition for storage and that no person is present at a car entry opening in the car entry area to thereby allow the lift means to transport the car in the car storage area.
