Abstract:
A mechanical pencil 10 comprises a lead dispensing mechanism 30, an operating part 50, and a spare lead storage section 40. The lead dispensing mechanism 30 is disposed within a shaft 20 and has a chuck 31 that sandwiches and holds writing lead 80. The operating part 50 moves the chuck 31 forward. The lead dispensing mechanism 30 works as a result of the operating part 50 being operated, and the writing lead 80 is projected from a front end opening 23b of the shaft 20. The spare lead storage section 40 is disposed rearward of the chuck 31, is in communication with the chuck 31, and accommodates spare writing lead 81. The spare lead storage section 40 has a spiral shape in a cross-section and has a lead storage chamber 40a extending in the axial direction.
