Abstract:
Provided is a mechanical pencil which is configured so that a rotatable cam is rotated and driven relative to a holder member with the axis of the rotatable cam maintained stable, thereby ensuring the smooth operation of a rotation drive mechanism. A mechanical pencil is provided with a rotation drive mechanism (21) which rotates and drives a rotatable cam (23) using writing pressure to which a writing lead is subjected, and the mechanical pencil is configured so that the rotational movement of the rotatable cam (23) is transmitted to the writing lead. The rotation drive mechanism (21) is provided with a holder member (22) which rotatably supports the rotatable cam (23). The holder member (22) has formed thereon: first stationary cams (22c) which are formed on a funnel-shaped sloped surface (Fu); and second stationary cams (22d) which are arranged at an obtuse angle (α) relative to the axial direction. The cam surfaces of upper cams (23a) and the cams surfaces of lower cams (23b) are formed on the rotatable cam (23) so as to extend along conical sloped surfaces (Cs), the upper and lower cams (23a, 23b) alternately engaging with the first and second stationary cams.
