Abstract:
A mechanical seal device has a stationary sealing ring having a seal surface and
attached in a sealing relationship to a seal cover, a rotating sealing ring having
an opposed seal surface in intimate contact with the seal surface, a first stationary
ring for holding the rotating sealing ring, a second stationary ring fitting
in a sealing relationship on a rotating shaft, a stationary section having a bellows
connected at one end to the first stationary ring in a manner surrounding the rotating
shaft and connected at the other end to the second stationary ring. In either
one of the seal surface and the opposed seal surface, on the sealed fluid side,
there is formed a fluid introduction opening for introducing a sealed liquid
to the seal surface. Further, a dimple is formed in the other seal surface, or
alternatively, a fluid introduction opening and dimples are formed in the one
surface, where the dimples are arranged in a pattern radiating from the center
of the seal surface.
