Title:
MECHANICAL SYSTEM FOR ELIMINATING THE "LARSEN" EFFECT ON ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC GUITARS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/178956
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A mechanical system for eliminating the "Larsen" effect on acoustic-electric guitars. Acoustic-electric guitars are very sensitive to the sound returning from the amplifier, because this is picked up by the sound box which transmits it to the microphone which instantly creates a sound loop referred to as the "Larsen" effect. To avoid and eliminate this phenomenon, the sound board and the back of the sound box can simply be connected by a spacer situated under the bridge. When the sound emitted by the guitar exits the amplifier and returns to the sound box, the two faces receive it simultaneously. Since the sound is a sequence of positive and negative pressures, the spacer works alternately in compression and in traction and prevents the two faces from vibrating, and therefore prevents the sound from returning to the microphone. The "Larsen" effect therefore cannot be produced.
