Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of communications, and discloses a media file playing method and apparatus, an electronic device, a server, and a medium. The method comprises: sending a first request message to a server, the first request message being used for requesting to play a target media file, and the target media file comprising a first fragment and a second fragment; receiving a target configuration file sent by the server, the target configuration file comprising at least first index information and second index information, the first index information being used for indicating the first fragment, and the second index information being used for indicating the second fragment; after obtaining the first fragment from the server on the basis of the first index information, caching and playing the first fragment, and associating the first index information with the cached first fragment; and retrieving the cached content on the basis of the second index information, and playing the cached first fragment in the case that the second index information is the same as the first index information.
