Abstract:
Provided are a medical device and a treatment method, the medical device making it possible to maintain a needle in a state of insertion in biological tissue and to improve safety by inhibiting erroneous puncturing by the needle. A medical device (1) for forming a hole in the fossa ovalis (O) comprises: an elongate needle (30) provided with a puncture part (31); a tubular outer tube (60) which accommodates the needle (30); an operation part (70) to which a proximal part of the outer tube (60) is connected; a moving part (80) to which a proximal part of the needle (30) is connected, and which can move along the axial direction of the needle (30); and a force generation part (90) that exerts force on the moving part (80) in the direction in which the puncture part (31) protrudes from the outer tube (60). When the force generation part (90) moves the moving part (80) towards the distal side, the distance between a proximal action part (121) and a distal action part (86) is longer than a natural length (L0) of the force generation part (90).
