Abstract:
This medical device has a hydrophilized portion provided on at least part of the external surface thereof. The hydrophilized portion contains a hydrophilic polymer and an antimicrobial agent. The surface of the hydrophilized portion has a water contact angle of not more than 30º. Good antifogging properties, antimicrobial properties and persistence of the antimicrobial properties are achieved when the medical device satisfies the relationships represented by formulas (1) and (2) wherein P is the silver content per unit area of the hydrophilized portion and Q is the amount of silver ions per unit area measured by an extraction test.
Formula (1) 6.0 ≤ P/Q
Formula (2) 15.0 ≤ Q
The unit of P is ng/cm2 and the unit of Q is ng/cm2.
