Abstract:
In order to reduce the diameter of an overtube and cause the overtube itself to perform a bending motion by towing of a wire, a medical sheath (1) according to the present invention is provided with: a sheath body (2) that is provided with a first lumen which is disposed at substantially the center of a cross section thereof and into which a treatment tool (4) can be inserted and a second lumen that is in parallel with the first lumen and that has an elliptical or oval cross section shape and is long and flexible; a wire (9) that is inserted into the second lumen and that has an end fixed to the sheath body; a bend section (8) that is provided in the leading end portion of the sheath body and that is able to be bent by towing of the wire; an operation section (3) that is provided in the base end of the sheath body and that tows the wire; and a stylet (10) that is fixed to the sheath body along the longitudinal direction of the bend section and that has higher bending rigidity than the sheath body, wherein the second lumen is disposed at a position spaced apart from the long axis and short axis of the cross section of the sheath body, and the stylet is disposed at a position spaced apart from the short axis.
