Title:
MEDICINAL COMPOSITIONS FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING DIARRHEA
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/000217
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Medicinal compositions for preventing or treating diarrhea which contain, as the active ingredient, siastain B or its derivatives having a $g(b)-glucuronidase inhibitory activity and are useful as preventives or remedies for diarrhea whereby diarrhea disorders occurring in patients with cancer as the side effect of the administration of chemotherapeutics for cancer (in particular, anticancer camptothecin derivatives serving as a topo isomerase I inhibitor) can be ameliorated. These compositions are efficacious in preventing and treating diarrhea associating the administration of anticancer camptothecin derivatives.
