The present invention addresses the problem of providing a medicine inspection support device, an image processing device, an image processing method, and a program which appropriately recognize identification information, regardless of whether the identification information is engraved or printed. This problem is solved by an image processing device which: acquires a plurality of captured images of a second medicine, the images such that the direction from which the surface of the second medicine is illuminated by light differs for each image; performs a process that emphasizes the engraved section of the second medicine to generate a first emphasized image; performs a process that emphasizes a printed section of the second medicine to generate a second emphasized image; and checks against a master image the image selected on the basis of the designation information that designates which of the first emphasized image or the second emphasized image to use for the checking to determine whether a first medicine and the second medicine are the same.
