Abstract:
Provided is a medium conveyance device in which it is possible to suppress usage of a roller while a cover is open. This medium conveyance device has: a casing; a placement platform provided so as to be capable of moving between a fixed position, at which the placement platform is fixed to the casing and a medium is placed on the placement platform, and an inclined position, which is inclined relative to the fixed position for the purpose of attachment to the casing; a roller for separating the medium; and a cover provided so as to be capable of swinging between a closed position, at which the cover covers the roller and forms part of a medium guide surface, and an open position for attachment and detachment of the roller, in a manner that makes it possible to open and close the casing. The placement platform has an abutting part that abuts the cover and presses the cover into the closed position when the placement platform is arranged at the inclined position, or is moved from the inclined position to the fixed position, in a state in which the cover is arranged at the open position.
