Abstract:
The present invention provides a medium protection device and a medium separation/collection device whereby damage to a medium can be avoided during advance of the medium along a guide. A guide (53) is attached to a bill cassette (17), within an area lacking a tongue (52) on the circumferential side face of a center element (51) of a tongued roller (36). During dispensing of a bill (BL), the bill cassette (17) brings the tongued roller (36) to a halt in the retracted state, whereby, in a curved section situated forward and above in a hole part (25H2) made in a transport guide (25), the outside peripheral surface of the guide (53) is positioned in proximity to a surface (25S), to bring about a substantially blocked state. Thus, according to the present invention, the proximity of the apical point of the bill (BL) can be prevented from entering into the hole part (25H2), avoiding folding before it can occur during transport.
