Abstract:
A medium transport device comprising a plurality of payout belts (15) and a suction part (31). The suction part (31) suctions the air located in a space formed between the plurality of payout belts (15) and a medium placed on a platen (2). When coming into contact with the plurality of payout belts (15), the medium is payed out by the movement of the plurality of payout belts (15). The suction part (31) suctions air via a plurality of left-side air suction holes (33-1) and a plurality of right-side air suction holes (33-2), thereby drawing the medium toward the plurality of payout belts (15) with a first suction force. The suction part (31) furthermore suctions air via a plurality of central air suction holes (34), thereby drawing the medium toward the plurality of payout belts (15) with a second suction force. At such time, the first suction force is greater than the second suction force.
