Abstract:
A member for lathe machining which can reduce the waste of an expensive rare material in forming a worked article comprising such a material and which brings about cost reduction. At least part of the member consists of a noble metal alloy, and the member is provided with both a cylindrical core (3) having a diameter larger than the maximum diameter obtained by lathe machining and a hollow-cylindrical peripheral part (2) consisting of a material different from that of the core (3), the core (3) being provided without any space in the bore surrounded by the peripheral part (2). The material to be used in the peripheral part (2) is one free cutting material selected from the group consisting of free cutting brass, free cutting phosphor bronze, free cutting nickel silver, and free cutting beryllium copper, while the noble metal alloy to be used in the core (3) is an alloy comprising silver (Ag), palladium (Pd), gold (Au), platinum (Pt), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni) as the main components, an alloy comprising palladium, silver and copper as the main components, an alloy comprising silver, platinum, zinc, gold, and copper as the main components, or the like.
