Abstract:
The present invention is provided with: a solid polymer electrolyte membrane having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface; an anode-side electrode catalyst layer joined to the first surface; and a cathode-side electrode catalyst layer joined to the second surface. The cathode-side electrode catalyst layer and the anode-side electrode catalyst layer each include a catalytic material, a conductive support for supporting the catalytic material, a polyelectrolyte, and a fibrous material. The thickness of the anode-side electrode catalyst layer is larger than the thickness of the cathode-side electrode catalyst layer.
