Abstract:

This invention provides a membrane electrode joint product comprising a member having excellent gas sealing properties and capable of improving electrolyte membrane strength, which joint product does not cause a deterioration in a polymer electrolyte membrane and, at the same time, can easily be assembled by virtue of a small number of components, and a solid polymer electrolyte fuel battery, utilizing the joint prouct. The membrane electrode joint product for a solid polymer electrolyte fuel battery is characterized in that it comprises a polymer electrolyte membrane, a fuel electrode layer and an air electrode layer provided in each face thereof, and a fuel electrode diffusing layer and an air electrode diffusing layer provided respectively on the fuel electrode layer and the air electrode layer, the area of the plane part in the polymer electrolyte membrane is slightly larger than the area of the plane part in the fuel electrode layer and the air electrode layer, a reinforcing frame formed of a heat curable resin is provided on a fuel electrode layer-free or an air electrode layer-free part in one side or both sides of the polymer electrolyte membrane, and a protective layer is provided in at least a part between the polymer electrolyte membrane and the reinforcing frame.
