Abstract:
Provided is a membrane type water gate which is superior to conventional membrane type water gates. The water gate is equipped with a pair of support pillars which are provided in a direction crossing a running water flow or a waterway for ships; a membrane structure which is fixed to the pair of support pillars and is spread by being supported by the pair of support pillars; and either a top compression beam and/or a bottom compression beam, both ends of said top compression beam being fixed to the upper portions of the pair of support pillars, and both ends of said bottom compression beam being fixed to the lower portions of the pair of support pillars. The membrane structure is spread in such way that the deflection (δ0) of the membrane structure is zero approximately at the center of the distance between the pair of support pillars when the water surface is at the average water level.
