Abstract:
In order to suppress increases in voltage drop in a non-volatile memory having variable resistance elements provided therein, a memory controller comprises a voltage drop amount estimation unit and an encoding unit. In the memory controller, the voltage drop amount estimation unit estimates the amount of voltage drop from: wiring resistance for wiring up to a memory cell; and leakage current occurring in the memory cell when original data is held in the memory cell. The encoding unit performs prescribed encoding on the original data if the estimated voltage drop amount exceeds a prescribed threshold value.
