Abstract:
Polymeric gas separation membranes, especially ones that are meniscus-shaped with an area of reduced thickness (22) in their center to enhance flux while having a large contact area (24) with a stainless steel support to improve strength are disclosed. The membranes can be used for applications such as thermal gas valves, pre-concentration of a gas stream, and selective pre-screening of a gas stream. In addition, they can be used in providing a rapid screening system for simultaneously screening polymer materials for effectiveness in gas separation.
