Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a meniscus regeneration substrate which, when used to fill in defects in a meniscus of a knee joint in therapy to regenerate the meniscus, can promote regeneration of the meniscus. The present invention is a meniscus regeneration substrate which, when used to fill in defects in a meniscus of a knee joint in therapy to regenerate the meniscus, can promote regeneration of the meniscus, wherein: the meniscus regeneration substrate has a structure obtained by combining and integrating, in the stated order, a sponge layer composed of a bioabsorbable material that breaks down more slowly than polyglycolide, a nonwoven fabric layer composed of polyglycolide, and a sponge layer composed of a bioabsorbable material that breaks down more slowly than polyglycolide; the 50% compressive stress of the nonwoven fabric layer is 0.5 MPa or greater; and the nonwoven fabric layer has a thickness of 2 mm or greater.
