Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to provide a merchandise sales system with which a payment can be made in a desired type of currency regardless of the type of currency accepted when the merchandise is purchased. Provided is a merchandise sales system comprising: a merchandise sales device for selling merchandise; and a management device for managing an exchange rate between legal tender to be used in the sale of the merchandise and a cryptocurrency to be used in place of the legal tender. The merchandise sales device comprises: a sales part for carrying out the sale of the merchandise by a transaction being carried out in the legal tender and/or the cryptocurrency; an identification part for identifying a consumer of the merchandise; an acquisition part for acquiring the exchange rate from the management device; and a value exchange part for exchanging the legal tender and the cryptocurrency on the basis of the exchange rate. If the cryptocurrency is used in the sale of the merchandise, the sales part carries out a transaction using the cryptocurrency for the consumer having been identified by the identification part and sells the merchandise. If the legal tender is used, the sales part carries out a transaction using the cryptocurrency after the value exchange part exchanges said legal tender for the cryptocurrency on the basis of the exchange rate having been acquired by the acquisition part and sells the merchandise.
