Description:
MESH BAG Technical sector of the invention.- The present invention refers to a bag, of the type comprising a tubular body of thermo-weldable mesh and several laminates, also made of thermo-weldable mate- rial and which are arranged about the tubular body ends and secured to them by means of thermo-welded zones, said laminates conforming the closing means of the mesh tubular body ends.

Background to the invention.- Bags made up of a mesh tubular body of thermo- weldable material and closed at their ends by means of laminates, also of thermo-weldable material, are widely used nowadays.

The aforementioned laminates are secured about the ends or opposite mouths of the mesh tubular body by means of thermo-welded zones, thus eliminating the need to incorporate pieces, or additional closing mecha- nisms, which would entail an important increase in the final cost of the bag.

These bags are frequently used for marketing specific food products, especially fruit and vegeta- bles, due to the fact that, unlike conventional plastic bags, they enable the product to transpire and so lengthen their preservation time and make it possible for the purchaser to carry out a visual, tactile and olfactory inspection of the product contained in the bag.

However, these mesh bags present a significant problem, consisting of the fact that they do not have a suitable handle for the user to hold and transport comfortably. In order to alleviate this, an unsatisfac- tory solution has been sought for some time by making several oblong or circular holes in the thermo-weldable laminate of the upper part, which are adapted to enable the person carrying the bag to pass through two or more fingers, as described for example in the utility model No. ES-U8801019. With this solution, the problem is worsened, especially when the bag contains a consider- able product weight.

Explanation of the invention.- In order to solve the aforementioned problems, the bag object of the invention has been devised, which, being of the type mentioned under the previous heading, presents several constructive features aimed at easing their holding and manual transportation.

According to the invention, this bag comprises an elongated strip of thermo-weldable material, whose ends are secured firmly into one of the ends of the bag, solidly fixed to them by several thermally welded points, so that said elongated strip determines a handle for holding and securing the bag.

The incorporation of the conforming elongated member of the handle to one of the ends of the mesh tubular body and to the corresponding thermo-weldable laminates, not only resolves the problems of holding and transporting the bag, but also involves a minimal increase in the manufacturing costs.

In accordance with the invention, the elongated member of the thermo-weldable material, constituent to

the bag handle, can present different configurations, it having been envisaged that it can be made up of a flat band, a preferably rounded solid section, a hollow tubular section band or a mesh portion that is prefera- bly twisted around on itself.

Brief description of the drawings.- Several forms of embodiment of the bag object of the present invention are illustrated in the attached drawings, by way of non-limiting example. In the said drawings, Fig. 1 shows an elevation view of the bag object of the invention, with an enlarged view of the tubular body mesh; Fig. 2a is a detailed view of the elongated strip which conforms the bag handle in Fig. 1, the elongated strip being made up of a flat band in this case; Figs. 2b, 2c and 2d are different front elevation views of respective variations of the elongated strip intended for conforming the bag handle.

Detailed description of the drawings.- The bag represented in Fig. 1 comprises a tubular body (1) of thermally welded mesh, about whose end mouths laminates (2) of thermo-weldable material are arranged and joined to each other by thermo-welded zones (4). At one end of the bag are arranged the ends of an elongated strip (31) which make up a handle (3), secured and made integral to the laminates (2) by several thermowelding points (5). Said thermowelding points (5) can be the thermally welded zones (4) them- selves, although in the form of embodiment represented, the points (5) are independent of the zones (4).

In said embodiment example, the elongated strip (31) that constitutes the handle (3) is formed by a flat band represented in Fig. 2a.

Nevertheless, the handle (3) can be formed by elongated strips (32,33, 34) of different configura- tions, as shown in the embodiment examples in Figs. 2b, 2c and 2d, respectively.

In particular, the elongated band (32) represented in Fig. 2b, is made up of a solid band of preferably rounded section. In the embodiment example in Fig. 2c, the elongated band (33) is in tubular cross-section and in the embodiment in Fig. 2d the elongated member (34) is made up of a thermo-weldable mesh portion that is preferably twisted around on itself.

In any case, as has been mentioned previously and regardless of the specific configuration of the elon- gated band (31,32, 33,34), the latter's ends are solidly secured by the thermally welded points (5) to one of the ends of the laminated member (1) and to the laminates (2) responsible for closing said end.
