Abstract:
The present invention improves the battery performance of a metal-air battery while maintaining low environmental impact. This metal-air battery comprises: an air electrode 101 made of a bicontinuous body including a plurality of nano-structure bodies integrated together by a non-covalent bond and having a three-dimensional network structure; a negative electrode 102; and an electrolyte 103 disposed between the air electrode 101 and the negative electrode 102, wherein the electrolyte 103 is a gel electrolyte obtained by gelling an aqueous solution containing an ionic conductor using a gelling agent, and the gelling agent is made of at least one among plant-derived polysaccharides, seaweed-derived polysaccharides, microorganism-derived polysaccharides, animal-derived polysaccharides, and acetic acid bacteria that generate the polysaccharides.
