Title:
METAL CARBIDE PARTICULATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/079752
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a metal carbide particulate that does not require pulverization of a starting material, reaction intermediates, and a product, which results in the inclusion of metallic impurities, and that can promote a carbonization reaction uniformly at lower temperatures, and that can be manufactured at a low cost; further disclosed is a manufacturing method therefor. The metal carbide particulate is obtained by heat-treating a solid in a nonoxidizing atmosphere or a vacuum atmosphere, said solid being obtained by drying an aqueous complex that contains a water-soluble metal compound and contains a low-molecular weight water-soluble organic compound which has one or multiple functional groups selected from a group comprised of an amino group, a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group, and which has only oxygen and/or nitrogen as heteroatoms. The mean particle diameter is 100 nm or less, the amount of the impurity iron included is 100 ppm or less, and the total carbon ratio is within the range of ± 0.3 wt% of the theoretical value for the total carbon ratio as calculated from the composition of the aforementioned metal carbide..
