The present invention relates to the technical field of electric light sources, and in particular, to a metal halide lamp and a manufacturing method therefor. The metal halide lamp comprises an arc tube, a lamp holder, and an inner bulb. The lamp holder is fixedly connected to the inner bulb. The arc tube comprises a tube body, a positive electrode, and a negative electrode. The positive electrode is located in an arc chamber of the tube body, and is connected to a positive feedthrough, and the positive feedthrough is inserted in a first leg of the tube body. Starting gas is provided in the arc chamber of the tube body. The negative electrode is connected to a negative feedthrough, and the negative feedthrough is inserted in a second leg of the tube body. The outer surface of the first leg is provided with a conductive layer and a metal electrical connector. One end of the conductive layer is close to an electrode tip of the positive electrode, and the other end of the conductive layer is away from the electrode tip of the positive electrode. One end of the metal electrical connector is electrically connected to the other end of the conductive layer, and the other end of the metal electrical connector is connected to a long molybdenum rod. The present invention avoids the safety risks in production, transportation, installation, use, storage and waste disposal due to the use of 85Kr radioactive materials.
