Abstract:
Provided is a technology that sufficiently maintains fluidity of a thermoplastic resin in a runner section during injection molding and eliminates defects such as a heat-insulating layer formed in the runner section being missing. A metal mold comprising a first metal mold and a second metal mold arranged facing the first metal mold, and having: a cavity for forming a molded article shape, between the first metal mold and the second metal mold; and the runner section for forming a runner. Heat-insulating layers are formed in the metal mold inside surfaces that form the runner section in the first and second metal molds. The heat-insulating layer formed in the first metal mold and the heat-insulating layer formed in the second metal mold are arranged so as to not be mutually touching. The length of the section above the outer circumference of the runner section having a ratio between the thickness of the heat-insulating layers along the outer circumference and the maximum thickness of the heat-insulating layer above the outer circumference being 0.56-1.00, in a vertical cross-section in the longitudinal direction of the runner, is at least 80% but less than 100% of the length of the outer circumference.
