Disclosed is a complex which contains a polymer and metal nanoparticles such as gold, silver, a platinum group metal or copper, and which enables the formation of a metal coating film having sufficiently low resistance in actual usage merely through drying at room temperature and without using a particular heating and firing step or a step for removing protectant by using a solvent. Further disclosed are a fluid dispersion of the complex, production methods for the complex and the fluid dispersion thereof, and a plastic substrate using the complex and fluid dispersion thereof. The fluid dispersion of the metal nanoparticle containing complex is obtained by reducing metal ions in an aqueous medium, in the presence of a (meth)acrylic copolymer. The (meth)acrylic copolymer has a side-chain comprising a polyethylene glycol chain and a phosphate ester residue represented by formula -OP(O)(OH)2, and at least one terminal of the molecular chain is represented by formula -SR (wherein R is an alkyl group or the like). After being applied to a substrate the fluid dispersion forms an electrically conductive coating layer merely through being dried at room temperature.
