Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a composition that contains metal oxide particles having photoactivity and that suppresses the occurrence of aldehyde compounds even by photocatalysis; and to provide a production method thereof. [Solution] A composition which contains (A) metal oxide particles having photoactivity, (B) a dispersant, and (C) an organic solvent that is not a volatile aldehyde compound, wherein the ratio of alcohols with 1-2 carbon atoms contained in said composition is less than or equal to 200 ppm. In this composition, the metal oxide particles having photoactivity (A) contain at least one type of metal oxide having photoactivity selected from a group comprising titanium oxide, tin oxide, and zirconium oxide, and have a 5-60 nm average particle diameter measured with dynamic light scattering. At least 50 mol% of all the metal oxides is at least one type of metal oxide having photoactivity that is selected from the group comprising titanium oxide, tin oxide, and zirconium oxide.
